A Welcome Post.

Hello and welcome to Art of Style. Our manifesto, simply put, is to create a place of inspiration and community. We want this to be a curation of all things noteworthy in everyday style and living. A sort of silver lining to the everyday humdrum. Or, an artful look at style and daily musings. While fashion will be our focus, the occasional spirt of interior, beauty and healthy living influences are sure to appear.

Where did Art of Style begin?

In a cozy little coffee shop located in Atlanta, Georgia. Like many women, we have always had a love for fashion. And in the growing world of fashion and lifestyle bloggers, we felt a little weary to enter a pool of such refined writers and curators. After a few cups of coffee (or tea in B's case) and discussion of ideas for what our blog could be, we decided to begin creating just that—our blog. We vowed not to enter a mentality of comparison and competition; rather to introduce a creative outlet that others can relate to and enjoy.

Why Fashion and Lifestyle?

We see style as an art form—a way to express ourselves, not only in fashion choices, but in everyday living. Style is much more than what you wear; it is how you wear it and what you do while wearing it. It’s creating a life that you love which expresses who you are and hope to become. Art of Style is not meant to imply that we’ve “mastered the art of style.” That, our friends, could not be further from the truth. We want Art of Style to be a place where you can come to find inspiration and enjoyment—just as we do.

This outfit has pretty much been my uniform for late fall and early winter. It's easy to default to something comprised of some of my favorite staple pieces: a comfy jacket, classic black jeans and timeless booties.

The weight of the jacket is optimal for the unpredictable weather that we tend to experience this time of year. A lighter or heavier layer can be added underneath to handle chilly evenings or the random warm spells that us Southerners have come to know so well. The checked shirt I have on makes it ideal for days filled with everything from holiday travel to braving the malls in search of the perfect gift.

During those fall and winter months, we all have the sweater that remains in the forefront of our closets, or better yet, that never really makes it back into the closet due to such frequent use. This long cardigan is definitely that item for me. It completes almost any "everyday look." It also adds a touch of sophistication to those comfy layers, (i.e. leggings, boots and the cotton tee) and is suitable for most daily outings. In the field of photography, comfort is always importantbut so is style ; )

Though this cardigan is versatile, layering over black leggings and a black tee is a go-to style choice for me. When in doubt, wear black, right?
