Tourist (In A Sweater): Part II
Date: May 28, 2015 | Location: The Hearst Castle
On Memorial Day weekend, Clayton and I decided to play tourists in our home state. We drove down the coast, made a few routine stops in Big Sur, then continued to The Hearst Castle. It's such a gorgeous place-- I felt like a guest on the set of Gatsby. We listened to stories of old Hollywood parties and imagined what it would be like to grow up in a castle nestled in the mountains... but also with an ocean view. (What?!) Initial thought: For those accustomed to this sort of beauty, everything else in the world must look sub-par in comparison. Do you think?
Now to the outfit. I'll be honest- it was a gamble. Because it's been so cold in the Bay area, I wanted to wear a chunky sweater with leggings and possibly insulated boots. (kidding about the boots... well at least the insulated part). Anyway, I had a hunch that it would be slightly warmer down the coast- so out came the lenin shorts! They are my favorite high-wasted pair- comfortable and fitting for pretty much any summer outfit. I couldn't dress too 'summer,' for fear of the cold, so I added a sweater to the mix. However, this J.Crew number makes for the perfect summer sweater as it's airy and provides a nice look with sandals & the like!
