Fit for Travel
Date: October 13, 2016 | Location: Cortona, Italy
The ever elusive, perfect travel outfit: highly sought after, yet hardly ever achieved. I cannot count the number of times that I've worn something for a day of traveling and immediately regretted it once it was too late to change. Of course, the perfect travel outfit depends on the occasion. Mode of transportation, weather and post-travel activity must all be taken into account when making this most impactful decision.
On our travel day from Florence to Cortona, the stars aligned and this outfit was born. We woke up late that morning, jet lagged from our transatlantic flight the day before. With only thirty minutes to shower and pack before our car arrived, we were scrambling. The weather was fairly nice - albeit the occasional pop-up shower - and I knew we would be exploring Cortona for a bit when we arrived. Thus, I went for my soft Free People button down and comfy Madewell denim shorts (not too tight, not too loose). My booties and leather belt are always no brainers and my boater hat would protect me from rain and a potential bad hair day (probable given the fact that I didn't do any styling in the rush). It ended up being ideal for our day spent in the car, searching for our Airbnb up steep hills and wandering Cortona's main square.
