A Simple Chai Latte

A Simple Chai Latte

Unfortunately, October is not off to the best start so far. Between the mass shooting on the Las Vegas strip and the death of one of the greatest American musicians of all time, it has brought us an immense amount of heartbreak in just four short days. While it is easy to feel depressed and defeated at times like these, I do my best to cling to my faith and the ones I love the most to see me through. I've been praying hard for our country and the far too many people who lost their loved ones. Tom Petty sums up my thoughts in the best way in one of my favorite songs, "I Won't Back Down":

Well, I won't back down
No, I won't back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won't back down

No, I'll stand my ground
Won't be turned around
And I'll keep this world from draggin' me down
Gonna stand my ground

And I won't back down.

We decided to use Monday evening to recharge after an emotional day.  Time spent around the fire pit and a simple chai latte helped us wind down and reflect on the events that we wished would have never happened. I've been using this simple recipe with decaf tea to welcome fall weather in the most basic way I know how:

SIMPLE CHAI LATTE INGREDIENTS

1 Tazo Decaf Chai Tea Bag - here's the regular non-decaf tea, for all you normal people that like their caffeine

Trader Joe's Pumpkin Spice Almond Beverage, to taste (about 1/2 cup or so)

1/2 to 1 Packet Stevia

Simply heat up filtered water in the microwave in your favorite mug, steep the tea for about five minutes and add the pumpkin spice almond beverage + stevia to your liking.
